|---|---|---|---|---|
| iShares Core S&P 500 (Acc) | IE00B5BMR087 | 0,07% | 137.707 M€ | S&P 500 |
| Vanguard S&P 500 (Acc) | IE00BFMXXD54 | 0,07% | 32.873 M€ | S&P 500 |
S&P 500 o MSCI World
The best S&P 500 UCITS ETFs (2026)
The S&P 500 holds the 500 largest US companies and is probably the most-followed index in the world. European and UK retail investors usually can't buy the famous SPY or VOO, but there are equivalent UCITS versions that are huge and very cheap.

Comparison: CSPX vs VUAA: the two big S&P 500 ETFs. Same index and 0.07% fee: how they differ and which to choose.
Both fully replicate the index, cost 0.07% a year and reinvest dividends. iShares Core S&P 500 is Europe's largest ETF (almost €138 billion); Vanguard S&P 500 (Acc) is smaller but more than liquid enough. In practice, the choice depends on which one your broker offers commission-free.
What you buy with the S&P 500
Technology is now over 45% of the index, and the six largest companies —Nvidia (8.1%), Apple (7.0%), Microsoft (5.7%), Amazon, Alphabet and Broadcom— add up to more than 30%. It is a bet on the US economy and, increasingly, on its big tech names and artificial intelligence.
S&P 500 or MSCI World
The S&P 500 is US only; the MSCI World adds Japan, Europe, Canada and other developed markets, although the US is still 70%. The S&P 500 is slightly cheaper (0.07% versus 0.12-0.20%) and has returned more over the last decade; the MSCI World diversifies more across countries. Most people pick one as their core, not both, because they overlap heavily.
If you live in the US
You don't need UCITS funds: VOO, IVV and SPY track the same index from the US market.
Risks
A single country and heavy tech concentration: if the big tech names stumble, the whole index feels it. For investors in euros, pounds or other currencies, the dollar adds exchange-rate risk.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best S&P 500 ETF for a European investor?
iShares Core S&P 500 (IE00B5BMR087) and Vanguard S&P 500 Acc (IE00BFMXXD54) cost the same (0.07%); the iShares fund is much larger. Either is a solid choice.
Why can't I buy VOO or SPY in Europe?
Under the EU's PRIIPs rules (and similar UK rules), retail investors usually can't buy US ETFs that don't publish a key information document (KID). UCITS versions track the same index.
Accumulating or distributing?
Both funds above are accumulating. Distributing classes exist too; which is better depends on whether you want income and on how your country taxes each type.
